Summer Migrants

Hello,

Today was spent at Pitsford Reservoir and there was obvious signs of spring. First thing lots of Common Terns were in the Scaldwell Bay while at 11:00 a Arctic Tern joined them for a brief period of time, while only one Common Sandpiper was along the causeway yesterday another one joined it over night and during strong periods of rain and wind large numbers of hirundines were over the reservoir with sixty plus Common Swift, one hundred and fifty House Martin, one hundred Swallow and twenty Sand Martin. A Hobby took chance and was watched plucking a Martin. Other birds noted during the rain were a couple of Siskin, a Common Whitethroat and two Yellow Wagtail.

Regards,

Jacob
